NB Alpine names coaching staff for the Canada Games 2015 Ski Team

FREDERICTON, NB – NB Alpine recently appointed the Assistant Coach, Wax Technician and Para-alpine Coach to its staff for the 2015 Canada Winter Games Alpine Ski Team. The 2015 Canada Games will take place from February 13-March 1st, 2015 in Prince George, BC.

Ian Banks was named Head Coach in February 2013 and is now joined by Karen Lenehan as Assistant Coach and John Caron as Wax Technician.

Karen will be acting as manager and assistant coach to the team.

John Caron has been coaching at Mont Farlagne for over 20 years. His experience as a coach and knowledge of ski tuning will be invaluable to the team.

Michele Leger rounds off the staff as the Para-alpine Head Coach. Michele is a coach with Crabbe Mountain Racing Club as well as the Technical Director at NB Alpine. The assistant para-alpine coach is not yet named.

NB Alpine is looking forward to participating at the Canada Games and being represented in both the alpine and para-alpine events. Nicole Smith, president of NB Alpine, indicated “the Board is pleased to have Ian, Karen, John and Michele in place and looks forward to the upcoming ski season as athletes work hard at making the ski team for the Canada Games.”

There is currently a group of 30 athletes vying for a spot on a team of 14. In March 2014 a time trial will be held that will identify 10 athletes to be named to the Development Team with the final selection being held in December 2014.

NB Alpine’s mission is to promote NB Alpine in New Brunswick while developing athletes and coaches to their full potential and delivering quality ski racing programs.
