This section is a guide for coach development in NB. It is to be used by Coaches, Head Coaches and Club Presidents and Executive to better understand coach development and certification. A summary of this section can be found in documents under the coaching tab.
The section outlines all the pathways for the coaches up to and including performance level, funding opportunities, and a list of courses that will assist a coach in gaining the required licensing credits that are required for a CSCF\ACA coach.
You will also find guidelines and suggestions for the role of the coach in their own development as well as that for the club. This will be available on the Ski NB website as a reference and will be updated regularly to best reflect coaching opportunities. If as a coach or club member there is anything that is not in this document you feel could be useful please let us know and we will add it.
Why become certified?
Certified coaches enjoy the credibility of the sporting community and of the athletes they coach because they have been observed and evaluated “doing” what is required of them as a competent coach in their sport. They are recognized as meeting or exceeding the high standards embraced by more than 60 national sport organizations in Canada. Fostering confidence at all levels of sport, certification is a benefit shared by parents, athletes, sport organizations, and our communities.
What if I was certified years ago and I let my certification expire?
If someone is a dual member (CSIA & CSCF), they have to fill out the reinstatement form on the CSIA website (www.snowpro.com). Once the membership profile is reactivated, they will have to pay the annual membership of $129.50 + the reinstatement fee of $94.60 + tax.
If someone has only a CSCF certification, they can contact the CSCF by email to reactivate their profile. The CSCF will need your certification status, location and date of the course(s) taken, birth date. CSCF membership fee is $101.00 + reinstatement fee of $96.00 + tax.
